Progress Update Q3 2025

Fuck me sideways with a goddamned rake it has been a time, dear reader.

Q3 came at me with such a vengeance I feel like I'm in the third act of a particularly violent anime fight and quite frankly I’ve seen villains who’ve butchered the protagonist’s family be shown more mercy.

I've had the perennial "people moving into college" clusterfuck along with road trips galore to KC and Lake Okoboji, a baby shower, and a destination wedding all while work did its best to make me lose my faith in humanity.

I did, however, manage to make some neat little progress on this project of mine, so there's that!

Round Two of Beta is (now officially!) done and to all who participated I say: thank you! Your refusal to bow to the fickle whims of fate have allowed me to gain some much needed insight and are much appreciated.

The process has been an arduous one but we've finally done it, dear reader. Thankfully I can say I've avoided having to make too many of what I would consider "hard corrections" and everything's generally gone according to plan- that may seem kind of milk toast or non eventful to you but I assure you that with the horror stories I've heard concerning someone's first book this is like waking up to find myself bestriding a unicorn with Excalibur in one hand and the elder wand in the other.

Now comes the fun part. I've talked in the past of how I was toying with either going full tilt on getting this little beauty published or wrappimg up the sequel to make sure everything gels first, and, well, here's the rundown: it feels odd to say but I've actually just completed writing "act two" of said sequel. Not thinking about it or brainstorming mind you, or even roughing in a first pass. The som'bitch is pretty well ironed out (at least so far as a first draft is concerned) which leaves me staring down the barrel of completing the Third Act and getting it done so people can read it and see if things click.

And that- THAT is awfully tempting.

There will be plenty of work to do before I start act three of course (I like to take notes, reread what I've written and see if I can spot any glaring plot holes that need solving or if I've forgotten something from my outline) but the fact remains- the end is already on the horizon for the sequel project you may or may not have known even existed.

How long itll take to get done is another matter but until then, well, that's where I'm at dear reader. Relieved, thankful, eager, and nervous all rolled into one.

Will the streak of unbelievably good luck hold or will we hit a snag?

Tune in next time on Dragonball Z!
