Progress Update Q2 2026

Well fiddle my sticks, dear reader, I’ve somehow forgot to give you a Q2 progress update!

Whoops.

Admittedly that's because I’ve been as busy a bee with a looming pollen quota, but I digress.

Work has continued to be a nuisance this year (we’re busier than normal and that's saying something) but in between dealing with that and attending the occasional farmers market I’ve been aging some whiskey, attended several weddings and a state baseball game, toured South Dakota, and managed to go strawberry picking all while chunking through my TBR pile (a situation I assure you had grown to the point it needed dire tending to).

That does not mean I’ve been idle on the book front!

Oh, no, I've been rather active there as well.

I finished editing the version 1.0 of my manuscript for book 2 (if I can actually call it that after that many rounds of edits and revisions) and sent out the summons to my initial batch of "Alpha" beta readers to see if they were game for round two.

God bless ‘em they all said yes, and they're giving book one a quick reread to refamiliarize themselves with proceedings before jumping back in- and one of them may have already finished the reread of book one and the entirety of book two to boot!

While I'm waiting for them to get up to speed I've also set about the daunting task of sitting down to organize 14 years of notes so I'm sure that'll keep me busy and out of trouble (for the most part).

If you're reading this and were a beta reader for book one prepare yourself for the inevitable text inquiring if you're still down to clown but until then that's where I'm at dear reader: coordinated, caffeinated, and highly motivated.

Until next time!

John Carey
